How to Clean Your Kitchen Using Baking Soda

Common cleaners you find in grocery stores or drug stores are often filled with harmful chemicals that most people don’t realize can negatively affect them, their kids, and their animals. But aren’t natural cleaners more expensive? No. In fact, you can use common products in your house to clean your kitchen, like baking soda.

Say goodbye to harmful spray products, and hello to your natural go-to baking soda cleaner!

It’s a natural disinfectant, which is why you’ll often hear of people sprinkling it in their kitty’s litter too. It’s also cheap to buy in store, much like other store-bought, unnatural cleaners.

It Can Be Used For:

  • Countertops
  • Pots, pans, baking trays, etc.
  • Ovens and stoves
  • Fridges and freezers
  • Unclogging the sink
  • Getting rid of stains
  • Cleaning most surfaces
  • Getting rid of odors

How To Remove Stains With Baking Soda

If you have reusable plastic lunch dishes you can’t seem to get the stain or odour out of, a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda will do the trick. Soaking them overnight with the mixture will work even better!

If you have a favourite mug that is stained with coffee at the bottom, the same trick will work, or just by scrubbing the bottom with a brush and a mixture of baking soda, it should get rid of the stain within minutes.

Is It Safe On Stainless Steel?

This is one of the greatest things about using baking soda as a cleaning product in the kitchen. It works on the majority of popular surfaces, including stainless steel

Add some water to the baking soda and scrub away with a cloth. It will not scratch your appliances. Instead, it will get rid of those stubborn stains and grime on your stove, fridge, or sink.

Remove Burn Stains

Not only can baking soda clean your dishes and bring back their sparkle, it can also be used for taking burn stains off the bottom of your pots and pans.

Add water to the burned pot and let it come to a boil. Once it’s boiling, add in the baking soda, stir it, and use a wooden spoon to pick off the burnt spots as the baking soda works its magic.

Unclog Your Drain

If you know the case isn’t very serious and it’s only a matter of a slight clog, pour boiling water down the drown, followed by a mixture of baking soda and vinegar, and then hot water again.

Plug the drain for ten minutes and rinse again with hot water. The baking soda will loosen any sludge and also help get rid of any lingering smells.

Side note: This will also help hair dissolve from the shower drains too!
